‘Champions Together’ official book now on sale

Orders are being accepted now for the new book “Champions Together” — the official account of the Giants’ latest World Series championship season, published by the front office just for their own fans. These are $40 limited editions that will disappear soon and won’t be available in bookstores or Amazon.

This hardcover collectible is filled with images taken by the Giants team photographers, already well-known within the MLB.com Blogs community for their incredible shots, and it goes from Opening Day through the third victory parade in a five-year run. Manager Bruce Bochy wrote the Foreword, and the last pitcher to win an official game in 2014, Jeremy Affeldt, provides the Introduction. #BiggioHOF: Craig Biggio Day Hall of Fame Celebration Highlights

Astros Mission Control has photos, video and the full story from Friday’s Craig Biggio Day in Houston, celebrating the legendary Astros second baseman’s election to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Friday afternoon, over 1600 Astros fans braved the cold and wet weather to join us at Minute Maid Park to celebrate Craig Biggio’s Hall of Fame election. The celebration’s highlights included introductory remarks by fellow Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan (Biggio’s Astros teammate in 1988, his rookie season), Astros president Reid Ryan, owner Jim Crane and of course the man of the hour: Craig Biggio. Houston Mayor Annise Parker was on hand to officially proclaim Friday, January 9, 2015 as “Craig Biggio Day” in the city of Houston.

The fans inside Union Station greeted the Astros legend with his iconic “B-G-O” chant and several fans brought signs and banners. It was pretty much an outpouring of mutual love and admiration between a fan base and their hero. It was awesome.
