Cool to see our friends at Phillies Ballgirls posting their favorite moments of the season, you might want to do the same. Congrats to Jane Heller on some great pub for her upcoming book about the Yankees. Hey, Skip, glad to have you here and I’m sure you’d like to have April to do over again. Welcome back, Tiff!

blogmain.jpgAt the end of the season, I’ll put together a 2008 list to see who dominated the year in MLBlogs traffic. Hope you guys like the panel image (right) that I cobbled together for the homepage. Hey, everyone: Please make your profile pic YOU! This is one reason — I just looked for profile pics to swipe from MLBlogs to make that graphic. You can put pics of your favorite player within your blog posts — use the profile pic to show people the blog author’s identity.

October Gonzo kind of owns that real estate these days, so I wanted to slip this in and we’ll do it more. BTW, for the few MLBloggers I have seen who gripe about OG getting too much limelight on the homepage, my question to you is this: How many times do you have a nationwide TV commercial running constantly that prominently says at the end of it and thus is driving lots of viewers here to possibly experience fans’ blogs for the first time? I am so proud that MLB decided this year to make blogs the centerpiece of our national TV postseason ad campaign. Keep it up, I’ll make sure there are a thousand OG images on the MLBlogs homepage if needed. Instead of complaining that OG gets too much attention, I would think the
smart blogger would regularly post astute comments (with your URL) on his blog, giving people a glimpse of why they need to keep visiting you, being a key part of the OG community. Be smart when you promote.

Big welcome to some new Halo bloggers, and I want to especially make sure you check out a GREAT post by this MLBlogger. It’s a perfect example of how an MLBlog can be your way of documenting that dream day at the ballpark.

Make sure you join the new MLBlogs Facebook Page! Lots of other MLBloggers like (starting off at No. 200 overall) are over there. It’s another way for you to promote your MLBlog. Be sure to join, post images/pics, and say hi to everyone.

Hi Mark, I wanted to thank-you for the kind welcoming words to the MLBlogs Community… I’m still feeling my way around as this is the first time I’ve done this… I had tried to comment on a couple of blogs before and kept getting a “you do not have permission to comment please sign out” message… but ow I think I’ve figured it out… Anyways, I’m having fun talking about the sport I love so much! Thanks, man!

I have had a ton of frinds call and tell me you put me on a “clickie” on the bottom right of the header right under October Gonzo’s banner.

That means a lot ot me as a past sport writer who loost the passion 24 years ago, but you guys helped me resurface and reanimate a special part of my life…………Baseball.

Now looking forward to my first October in the Trop.

The rankings make me wish I had an MLBlog just to see where I would stand. But even if I don’t have on I like reading them.

Don…following up today on this, hopefully data is all backed up, larger issue is that we can follow digital footprints and involve mlb legal…will stay in touch with you.

V, glad to hear your OG thoughts and you are such a superstar out there commenting on other MLBlogs and growing this community…thanks.

Ryan, glad you got that worked out…in time to blog about a no-hitter!

I wish I could automate the data to make Latest Leaders daily, would have to strip out #s, right now just running a script and then manually linking all the URLs (the main time-eater). For the rest of this season will try to do this weekly. – Mark

Hi Mark, I have a problem, I logged into my account and all of my blogs are gone. It’s like they were erased, someone has gotten into my facebook account twice and had it closed, and got into my email too. I am writing this to ask you if my blogs disappearing is a technical glitch or if someone maliciously erased them all. I have a stat tracker and I think I have the IP Address. Can you please help me with this …Please contact me..My blog is completely empty…Don Rock Pile Ranter

You rock man. Thanks for putting my picture on the homepage. My friends and family got a kick out of it.

I’d love for you all to check out my blog, Prose and Ivy, as I’d love for more of you to become regular readers…however, disregard my last comment…I figured out how to reset the link list column back to the right side of the page. Thanks!

I was kinda bothered by OG’s takeover at first but I don’t mind anymore.
I’m very glad to see the push to get other blogs out there though Mark 🙂
V –

Uh-oh. I just edited a posting of mine (the one titled “Yikes”, ironically) and in an effort to cut and paste a photo to the posting by copying the HTML mode for the same photo that I used on a different post…somehow…after pasting and hitting save…my entire right side (all of the assets from the author one on top, down to the last link list/asset) is now for some reason lined up in the middle of my page below all of the postings.

You wouldn’t happened to know how I could set his back would you? Anyone? Here’s my blog, please tell me if any of you know what I may have done wrong. THANKS!

Red State Blue State. Now things are just gettin’ good. Check it out.

When I started blogging on here almost 105 entries ago, and it seems like just yesterday.
I was just wanting to get the word out about my home team, the Tampa Bay Rays.

Thank you a million for everyone who has clicked on my page, and I hope you have enjoyed the content. It is made for the true fans of baseball, and not just Rays fans.

Again, thank you for putting me up at # 18 again, and being the Rays blogger of choice on MLBlogs last month.

Nice to see myself (and a bunch of my friends) on these lists.

Thanks for all your hard word with MLBlogs. Sorry I haven’t commented lately on yours, but I’ve been ALL over the place lately and have been struggling just to keep up with mine.

-The Baseball Collector

Nah. It doesn’t sound like you read a word of what I said. He has a constant national TV commercial throughout each week. Why are you acting like it’s nothing? He is the only blog (anywhere on the Internet) with the legal capability/access to show any MLB highlight past or present…so you’ve just underestimated the appeal of his content as you focus on words. Instead of trying to be so competitive, maybe you should think about the benefit he brings you. Our homepage is such a small part of the ways people can promote themselves as bloggers…and promoting oneself is No. 1 as a blogger. Go with it…”don’t complain, jump on the OG train!” OG is eyeballs for you. Having said all this, the one thing we do agree on is that we want to keep adding more ways for MLBloggers to find each other, sorry we haven’t been able to roll some of them out as there is development happening here at MLB Advanced Media ongoing all the time and blogs being among the many. There are definitely a lot of things we want to do. Make sure you use the tag search functionality on as one.

October Gonzo DOES get too much attention. He is always on the homepage, and what does he do? He asks who is going to hit the most home runs or who will strike out the most batters come September. Big deal. He probably got a commercial becuse he works for MLBlogs. There are many bloggers (myself included) who are always leaving comments on popular blogs and do not know why their traffic is so slow. The only reason OG gets so many views is because he is always on the homepage. There needs to be some better way of finding new MLBlogs.

Thank you all at Logging in and seeing my mug in the middle of Mark DeRosa and Joe Torre. You all are awesome. Keep up the GREAT work..Rock Pile Ranter

Hey, thanks for putting my photo on the MLB Bloggers home page! It’s mighty nice to have my name in the same sentence as Joe Torre too!

After nearly a year’s absence, I have returned to the blogging world to try and motivate my Redbirds to a postseason appearance. I would appreciate any of you coming and checking out the blog.

Congratulations …

To all the blogs on the “Fan MLBlog” list and “MLB Pro Blog” list … My Blog was #30, and I’m honored to be part of all the great blogs listed … Everybody, “have fun”, and keep up the great work !!! … Jimmy [27NYY] …

Thanks for the mention. My blog is on fire right now, like the late season Blue Jay winning streak.

This is also a great way for me to check out other bloggers.

Thanks for posting Mark! It is cool to see me in the top 10. I want to be in the top 5th next.

Check out my blog and comments guys!

The Baseball Collector

Very excited to be in the top ten, Mark! Thanks for the heads up.

Your article about 9/11 was great. I read about Lauren and her husband in today’s NY Times and they mentioned her interest in baseball. I wish the Yankees were doing better, if only to keep up her spirits.

As for your literary agent issue, email me via my web site. Tell me your tale of woe and I’ll try to make constructive suggestions!

– Jane

Wow, I’m #44. Jake Peavy’s number!! This is my first time on the list, so thanks for reading about the Padres!

Now all I need to do is type up some more entries!

Hook, Line, Drive, and Sinker – it’s an honor to be right in front of you. It has been one of my favorite blogs! The Photo Shop King!
